FERTILITY, PREGNANCY, POSTPARTUM CARE

Maria is board certified through ABORM (Acupuncture and TCM board of Reproductive Medicine) to support clients facing challenges with reproductive health.  She has worked with clients trying to conceive with and without IVF and will communicate with Obstetrics or Reproductive Endocrinologists to ensure continuity of care and the best patient outcomes and experience.  Reproductive challenges are stressful, but Maria’s calm demeanor, experience, and availability to her clients improve their experience.  Acupuncture, lab work, supplementation, and lifestyle changes could be required to support the process.  Once pregnant, Chinese medicine and Acupuncture can help maintain pregnancy and support the health of both the mother and the growing baby.  Acupuncture, herbs, nutrition, and lifestyle practices can treat many common symptoms associated with pregnancy and postpartum.

WOMEN’S HEALTH/ HORMONE BALANCE (WOMEN OF MENSTRUATING AGE) AND (PERI)MENOPAUSE

As women, we cycle monthly and go through hormone shifts from when menstruation starts until menopause.  When the body is in balance, these shifts are smooth.  Our Western lifestyle and diet can create imbalances that disrupt our hormones and make all the transitions more difficult.  Many signs and symptoms that show up early on can be corrected, and harmony can be restored using diet and lifestyle.  This has a lasting positive effect on our quality of life and long-term health.  As we move towards menopause, restoring homeostasis in the body is even more critical.  Hormones drop, and the effect of low hormone levels will be felt.  Studies have shown that decreased hormone levels lead to cognitive decline, bone density issues, heart disease, and many serious health concerns.  Acupuncture, herbs, and nutritional supplementation, along with diet and lifestyle changes, can help to make these natural transitions be more comfortable and allow for better long-term health.

The following are common conditions treated

There’s no greater love we can give our children than to help them navigate health challenges and teach them how to take care of their physical, mental, and psychological health from a young age. Herbs, homeopathic remedies, and supplements effectively treat children without harmful side effects. For young children, gentle point lasers can replace acupuncture needles, or the needles are used very gently with little or no retention. Cupping, Moxa, and guasha are other tools that can help the body heal without causing harm.

ACUPUNCTURE, HERBAL MEDICINE, AND APIT

Acupuncture has been widely studied and accepted as an effective modality for treating acute and chronic pain and many other conditions.  Studies have shown that acupuncture affects the central nervous system.  When the needles are inserted, it triggers the release of chemical messengers that initiate the body's natural healing process.  Often cupping, electrostimulation, moxa, or guasha will be added to treatments.

Herbs are an excellent complement to acupuncture and can treat many common conditions without the harmful side effects of medications and over-the-counter drugs.  Herbs are sourced from companies that can provide a Certificate of Analysis (COA)showing they meet The Golden Standard.  The Golden Standard means the herbs passed the strictest criteria of testing for harmful contaminants meeting the requirements of the US, Singapore, E.U., and Japan.

Acupuncture Point Injection Therapy (APIT) has been shown to be incredibly effective in treating body aches, pains, and arthritis.  Homeopathic Traumeel is injected into Acupuncture points and can provide incredible results for eliminating or reducing pain.  See the study below for details of this promising alternative to more invasive pain management treatments.
